Motorway emergencies: a protocol between the Fire Brigade and Autostrade dello Stato. Drones and artificial intelligence also deployed to enhance safety.


 

Rome, June 4, 2025 – Today, at the Ministry of the Interior, a Memorandum of Understanding on motorway safety was signed by the Head of the Fire Brigade Department, Attilio Visconti, and the CEO of Autostrade dello Stato, Vito Cozzoli. Also present were the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, and the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi.

The agreement officially launches a structured collaboration to address emergencies along the motorway network managed by the company more quickly, in a coordinated manner, and more effectively. The goal is to enhance the safety of users and operators by improving response times and the overall efficiency of the system.

The Protocol is based on three strategic pillars: safety, data sharing, and technological innovation, including the use of drones, remotely operated robots, advanced sensors, and artificial intelligence algorithms to monitor and manage critical situations and operational data in real time.
